Apollo Hospitals is setting the standard for sustainability in healthcare through its landmark collaboration with Smart Joules. The initiative, extending over a decade, is set to reduce carbon emissions by an astonishing 2,90,000 tons across 18 Apollo hospitals in India.
The collaboration leverages Smart Joules’ JoulePAYS, an innovative pay-as-you-save solution that facilitates the retrofitting of existing buildings for energy efficiency. The solution assures considerable energy savings with no upfront investment.
This initiative is in alignment with India’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2070, a goal that calls for significant strides in energy conservation and efficiency.
In a short span of four months, Apollo Hospitals has already executed 235 energy conservation measures through the integration of JoulePAYS. This translates to expected savings of over 235 million kWh and INR 2 billion by 2030.
Dr. K Hariprasad, President of Apollo Hospitals, spoke highly of JoulePAYS’ capacity to optimize the hospital’s operations while significantly curtailing its carbon footprint.
Apollo Hospitals is leading the charge in illustrating that sustainability and top-notch healthcare can go hand in hand. Its partnership with Smart Joules is an inspiring instance of the healthcare industry’s potential role in the fight against climate change.
